Re: DEFINITION
Those are terms of NFS automounter, You must to know,. Which filesystems to mount, which NFS server to use, which local mountpoint to user and which mount point are required.
Automouter recognize 4 types of maps
maste map, contain a list of automounter maps, master, direct, indirect and special.
A direct maps, contains mount information for any numer of unrelated mount points, there is no common mount directory
An indirect map use a common mount directory to make several mount points appear as a common directory
A Special map is predefined and lead to a default mount action.
- soft softmount refer an option that automounter will time out and quit, instead of continuosly trying to contact the missing node (hardmount)
For increase the size of a filesystem online you must have Advanced OnLine JFS installed on your system and the filesystem need be vxfs type . first extend the logical volume
# lvextend -L new_size lvol_name
Then use fsadm command
# fsadm -F xvfs -b new_size_kb /mount_point
The value of new_size_kb is given in data blocks (kilobytes), eg, for a size of 200MB, (200*1024)
# bdf ------- to check new size
