Depot installation problem

Hello,

I copied some depot from DVD to the laptop (windows) and then with ftp to hpux server (11i).

When I tried to swinstall, I got errors that some files are corrupted and it can't unzip them.

Can it be due to fact that I copied it from windows machine? And how can I solve this problem? Going over each file and "dos2unix" it? That's the only DVD drive I have right now.

Re: Depot installation problem

Hmnn...never tried copying from DVD in Windows....

Can you just download them instead from the software depot?

I have done that with MS IE - and ftp (as binary) to my Unix servers - and had no troubles...

Re: Depot installation problem

Make sure it wasn't corrupted during the download. If possible, download again.
Always use binary mode while transfering the files with ftp.

Hope this helps!

Re: Depot installation problem

Yes, ofcourse it was binary FTP and I can try and copy it again, but I doubt that it will help.

I can't download it from web, since it's available only on this DVD I have.

Re: Depot installation problem

Alex,

I took a look at an Application DVD for 11iv2 - and can't see the depots from Windows - says the "folders" are empty....

Which DVD are you using - and are you sure it is a depot on the DVD?

I think there are file incompatibilities - IE - Windows can not see all of the DVD...

Re: Depot installation problem

Alex, Can you copy them using Samba (CIFS) on HP-UX from Windows ? I think, it should work..

Re: Depot installation problem

May be a problem with your copy style. Check with cksum of all files which you ftp'ed to hpux.

Re: Depot installation problem

one more option, you can use "scp" as well.

Re: Depot installation problem

I think the problem is not in copying, it's in the way Windows "sees" the files, as Geoff said, so I'm afraid SCP will not be any better than FTP ...

Thanx to all!
