After upgrading my MSA 1000 with 8 additinal disks in a MSA 30 enclosure. The device file for the first LUN has changed. I did a daisy chain to enclosure. I have a rx 4640 and one MSA 1000 before i upgrade my disk capacity. What can i do to revert to the old device file
/dev/dsk/c5t0d0 has change to dev/dsk/c5t0d1
This is the new scsi address for new LUN i created
/dev/c6t0d1.

Re: Device file change for LUN
Previously it was LUN 0 (/dev/dsk/c5t0d0) now it is LUN 1 (/dev/dsk/c5t0d1)
You cannot (should not) change anything from the OS side regarding the device files.
Consider to adjust your volume managers config (e.g. vgexport/vgimport).
Is secure path in use?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Device file change for LUN
I did not change any setting. It only thing i have not yet done is to terminate the ScSi on the MSA 100. Below is my configuration.

Re: Device file change for LUN
Do you have ioscan -fn output before MSA30 operation ?
Which HP-UX version are you using?

SolutionCLI-1> show connections
Connection Name: IDWSVR_IDWSTORE
Host WWNN = 50060B00-0011CBBB
Host WWPN = 50060B00-0011CBBA
==> Profile Name = Default
And what is your default?
It is not HP-UX.
CLI-1> show units
Unit 0:
In PDLA mode, Unit 0 is Lun 1; In VSA mode, Unit 0 is Lun 0.
You are in PDLA mode, so your Unit 0 is presented as LUN 1 - this results in
/dev/dsk/c5t0d1
IMHO you are using the wrong mode!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Device file change for LUN
Peripheral Device LUN Addressing
(PDLA)
but you need to use for this LUN
Profile name = HP
Volume Set Addressing
(VSA)
Do you use ACU or just CLI?
Look up the user manual for
"Managing host modes (connection profiles)"
and change to "HP".
Syntax:
where
BTW, this is a common mistake made in MSA configuration resulting in strange results from HP-UX point of view.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
