Device files are not getting created
Hi experts,
I have allocated some luns from xp12000 to hpux host.In ioscan the disks are showing claimed but devices files are not showing.
but In /dev/dsk/ the device files are present.
lssf output the device files is as bellow
sdisk card instance 161 SCSI target 4 SCSI Lun 7 section 0 at address ??? /dev/dsk/c161t4d7
I tried by removing the devices files manually, insf, insf -e,insf -e H 2/0/9.The xp lun security, WWN are ok.
Reboot is not possible for me.
Second issue-
I am allocating the two HBAs of same host in xp Host group. it is not showing two device files for the luns.
pls help me in resolving the issues.
thanks
Sunil

Re: Device files are not getting created
Hi,
For first issue.
After allocating the LDEVs, u have run ioscan -fnC disk correct?. After that step did u run insf to install the disks, if yes, was it showing that the system is installing the device files.
run #xpinfo -i |egrep 'ldev1|ldev2' and check the o/p. Is it displaying the Luns.
If do pvcreate to those luns inorder to allocate it in a VG
Abt the second issue, can u clarify the query, i am not able to get u..
Regards,
Sunil

Re: Device files are not getting created
Shalom Sunil,
insf -e
insf -C disk
rmsf removes devices.
Please first make sure the World Wide Name (WWN) on the two HBA cards has been assigned to the luns in question.
Then understand that for full control you may need to reboot your system. You probably will as a matter of fact.
