DHCP on HP-UX 10.01 ?

Hello,

I have to configure our old HP-UX box (B.10.01 E 9000/856) to be capable for DHCP.
I already read through the postings of the forum and found some instructions, e.g. "Enabling DHCP on a System Not Initially Configured with DHCP" and how to use sam to configure DHCP - in sam I cannot find a button for "enabling DHCP".

Is it possible to use DHCP in HP-UX 10.01 ?

Kind regards,

Open SAM "Networking and Communications" and then "Bootable Devices". You will find the DHCP configuration button there.

Re: DHCP on HP-UX 10.01 ?

Hello,

Sorry for the late response but I couldn't access the site anymore.
If I follow the steps as described above unfortunately I do not get a button for the DHCP enabling.
Currently the Bootp Server is disabled. Do I have to enable it?

Thanks for any help.

Re: DHCP on HP-UX 10.01 ?

I have an area named "DHCP Device groups Booting From this Server". When you configure this, DHCP startup is automatically enabled.

I must admit I am not using HP-UX 10.01, but HP-UX 10.20. If you don't see above area, what areas do you see ?

Re: DHCP on HP-UX 10.01 ?

Hello Wim,

I just checked on several HP sites and found a statement saying that DHCP is not supported for HP-UX < 10.20.
Unfortunatley, patching is not possible and therefore I have to install the box new or use a static entry.

Thank you very much for your support.
