difference between fail and missing!

what is the difference between lock disk missing and lock disk failed on cluster. Both are same right ?

Please clarify on the same.

Well....end result may show similar error, but the cause could be different.

Missing means the disk is not there or can not been seen.
I believe that could be caused by a number of reasons:
* The wrong disk info was entered into the configuration file.
* The disk has had a hardware failure and is down.
* The disk can not be seen by all the nodes in the cluster due to wrong mapping/masking.

"the missing" error may result because of cabling, zoning etc and problem may be solved without any replacement. if it's failed disk must be changed.

Go look and figure out what the problem really is.

We are not in your shop, we can not see what you can see. You need to go and start eliminating what is not the problem and as the saying goes..."...whatever is left, must be your problem".

Do you really get such messages or do you "just ask"?

A failed disk is just a failed disk, missing could mean the disk is there, but the "lock disk information" is not present (this disk is not a lock disk).
