Different Nodes In Cluster

Can I mix in the same cluster node with HP-UX 11 32-bit version and other one with HP-UX 64-bit version ? How to create the application pakage (32-bit, 64-bit) in this case ?

Re: Different Nodes In Cluster

Yes you can do this, but then your application could only be a 32 bit application. You could not have a 64 bit that runs on one node, and then when it switehs have it become a 32bit applicsation.

Re: Different Nodes In Cluster

as said above.. you can have a nodes with 32 bit and 64 bit, but you have to make sure your application does run on both the platform. The failover will not have any issues with it. If the application is 32bit there should not be any issues on running both platforms.

Hope this helps

Re: Different Nodes In Cluster

Hi Oleg,

You can use a cluster composed of different nodes architecture ( K, L, N and 32 and 64 bits ).
As anounced by HP in earlier of 2000, HP-UX 64 bits operating system is fully compatible of 32 bits applications but the reverse is not true.

So, all your applications develeped with 32 bits compiler WILL run under hp-ux 64bits .

Re: Different Nodes In Cluster

Does this mean then that serviceguard itself is mixed platform compatable. ie same cluster running on 1020 and 11 simultaneously.

I tried to do an online upgrade of a 1020 sg cluster up to 11 and was told that it was unsupported. Aparently cluster binaries would be incompatable.

Is there a procedure do do this online upgrade.
