Different Size Disks via Extent-Based Stripping ??

is it possible to use extent based stripping on diffrent size disks.

Any guidnce would be wonderful!

You can create an logical volume equal to the size of "number of disks x size of the smallest disk" using extent based striping. But any kind of striping is not recommended across disks of different sizes as the speeds may differ. In that case the effective throughput would be that of the poorly performing disk.

hi,

It is possible, but i would not suggest it.
From a performance point of view, it will not help so the objective of doing it that way is lost.

Sure its possible, but more importantly you should avoid mixing disks on the same scsi channel that have different speeds and transfer rates. of course if the disks are of different sizes, then you would have to make the larger disk's extents larger to make up for the difference you would have creating an equal number of extents on each disk.
