directories coming from no where.
The system is rx3600 and the os is hp-ux 11.23. I used golden image to rebuild a new system from an old system, and created all necessary directories, such as /, /stand, /usr, /var, /opt, /home, /tmp. Also, I have a couple of my own directories in the golden image, such as /oracle and /application, and they are set up during the building process. After installed, the bdf looks like:
# bdf
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/vg00/lvol3 1048576 333560 709480 32% /
/dev/vg00/lvol1 600240 58112 482104 11% /stand
/dev/vg00/lvol10 9240576 2970144 6221528 32% /var
/dev/vg00/lvol11 8192000 18544 7662686 0% /var/adm/crash
/dev/vg00/lvol9 4096000 2116328 1964216 52% /usr
/dev/vg00/lvol8 1540096 20544 1507848 1% /tmp
/dev/vg00/lvol7 35848192 3589302 30303485 11% /application
/dev/vg00/lvol6 10256384 5757097 4218266 58% /oracle
/dev/vg00/lvol5 4620288 3375032 1235592 73% /opt
/dev/vg00/lvol4 5144576 2581056 2545088 50% /home
But later on, when user went to a subdirectory of /application, they found several directories, such as home, dev, usr and all owned by root.
I checked the system of the golden image but don't see anything like that in it.
I still don't know where they come from. Maybe they are copied there accidentally by me, or they left from previous system.

Re: directories coming from no where.
Ignite just drop the golden image.
So check that subdirectories if there is no link to / for instance,
For instance go to
/application/...../usr
pwd -P
bdf .
Or it is a user error.

Re: directories coming from no where.
Hi Dan,
If you not created the directory by mistake then the folder comes from "No Where" sure.
Thanks & Regards
Aashique
