Disabling CPUs in HpUx

Hi Experts,

Do anyone know how to disable processors in HpUx 11.11, say if I have 4 cpus then how do I disable 2 out of it. I know that it may be possible through PDC prompt...any idea?

Yes, You can do it via PDC prompt. Solaris has psradm command to do this.

# psradm -f 0

Re: Disabling CPUs in HpUx

Hi,

More than the OS it is a hardware dependant. So which model do you have? In most of them you can do that at PDC level before the OS boots.

Another option is to have floating processors in V-pars if you have and your hardware supports that.

I-Cod is also a similar thing which will keep some physically available CPUs disabled due to licensing.

I remember two ways to do it.

With STM (latest versions.)disable and reboot.

On PDC prompt-BCH menu.
There is no substitute to HARDWORK

Hi Guys,

Thanks a lot for all the help extended. To summarize I understand that it can be done through COnfig Menu of GSP prompt for which you have to reboot the system. Another way is to download latest version of STM, with this can I disable/enable the cpus online same as u can do with "psradm" in solaris, pl confirm
