disk req queue rates

While checking a system, I found under the glance (GUI/gpm) disk req queue rate parm the value was 65535. When using the motif version (glance) the req queue rate was 100% for >9.
sar -d showed me 65535 also.

There seems to be no performance issues.

Disk attached to EMC Connectrix >> EMC Symmetrix Array with fiber channel cards.
Also using Pawrepath.
This doesn't look correct.

Re: disk req queue rates

Randy,

I don't think you can actually look at any of these statistics and make anything out of them since your disks are attached to the EMC Symmetrix. Basically, once your requests have been sent into the EMC Cache, all statistics from there on should be looked at from inside the EMC software to really find the correct statistic.
Cooperation is doing with a smile what you have to do anyhow.

Re: disk req queue rates

Randy: I haven't noticed the issue you are seeing, but I do know that PowerPath lives at a level in the I/O stack that could very probably 'fool' some of the standard I/O rate tools.

I may have a chance today to check this on a client's machine with PP... if so, I'll update this thread.
