Does anybody know whether there is a command that you can run to display installed software codewords.
eg. I have Auto-port aggregation software running. How can I find out the codeword that was used to install this so that when I upgrade I can use the same it again.
Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Colin.

Re: Displaying install software codewords
There is no any command to see the installed s/w codewords. Codewords will be in the file /var/adm/sw/.codewords
with CD part no.

Re: Displaying install software codewords
Codewords are associated with a particular CDROM, so when you upgrade or cold-install you will need to acquire a new codeword for the product(s) you are upgrading.
You can get codewords online by going to the ITRC Maintenance and Ssupport page (downloads and licensing) and visiting the software licensing link.

Re: Displaying install software codewords
Do you know whether codewords for older cd's will work on new ones?
ie. 5011 cd part no. Will the codeword work on 5012 cd's?

Re: Displaying install software codewords
NO, codwords are tied to a CD's part number and thus a codeword for an older CD will not work on a newer one.

Re: Displaying install software codewords
The codewords are bind to particular CD part number. when you are using codewords, you have to use that particular CD.
You can't change the either the codeword or CD

Re: Displaying install software codewords
On the off chance that I may want to go back to an old set of CD's to install something, I copy the /var/adm/sw/.codewords file to each new machine I build. I'm sure it's overkill, but it certainly doesn't hurt, either.
