You must likely bent a pin on one of the cables when reconnecting the drive. This can result in SCSI bus errors reporting many more targets than you really have.
The bent pin could be on the cable or the terminator. You can disconnect the cable and visually inspect it but you always run the risk of bending the pin again when reconnecting.

Also make sure that the new tape drive is not a Single Ended Drive, your card is a FWD SCSI card and the busses are not campatible.

You've been provided with an incompatible part. 28696A is for a K250. 28642A is for a K460.

No, a 28696 will work in a K250 or a K460.

I did disconnect it, put a different terminato, and used a different cable and still did not get the system to recognize it, I am thinking I
got the swrong drive.
What do I ask my vendor for as far as the fast wide scsi goes?

You need to verify that the drive is indeed a High Voltage Differential SCSI drive. I suspect that you have a Single Ended Drive.
