Well, a google search could get you pretty far, here's some to get you started:

(An oldie, but a goodie)
http://docs.hp.com/en/1219/tuningwp.html
(And a little bit more updated version)
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=8&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.peoplesoft-hp.com%2Ftools%2Fwhitepapers%2F%255Bfiles%255D%2FTechnical%2FHPUX%2520Performance%2520Cookbook.pdf&ei=pihuRtSbJp-4iwHKl_CdAw&usg=AFQjCNGaBrLGSsQ8kEx9Rpd-O29SLE4z2g&sig2=KVnIIJtd2jkijY3T5ujKZA

The following book is good to get you started also:
http://www.amazon.com/HP-UX-11i-Tuning-Performance-Professional/dp/0131433490/ref=pd_sim_b_1/104-1605422-5206331

If you have access to the Knowledge Base on the ITRC look at the following:

UPERFKBAN00000726
KBRC00000947
KBRC00016774

Have fun, and good luck

Re: docs about HPUX11i performance and tuning

Shalom,

The documents above are excellent. The duplicated link below was written with the perspective of Oracle in mind by a very nice person in the response center who helped me squeeze a lot of performance out of oracle on D Class boxes.

Some trick.

The approach you take to tuning depends on what you want to do.

First, find the problem:
http://www.hpux.ws/system.perf.sh

You can use glance.
I/O issues are handled differently than memory.

The general areas to look are:
1) Performance patches. This covers I/O and you may skate on doing real work if you have these patches installed.
2) Kernel. dbc_max_pct should be low and close to dbc_min_pct for Oracle databases.
3) I/O. Toughest sometimes involves disk array work, re-arranging your database files to balance I/O on different disk subsystems.

Still relavent.
