Does an HP LJ 3600 work with HPUX 11.11?

User is getting "chosen personality not available" error on printer went trying to print from system. I've explained that not all printers are compatible with HPUX but she doesn't believe. Please back me up on this one.

First, how is the printer defined: local, remote, network? Through lp or hppi? I did a quick check of hppi model scripts and didn't see one specifically for the 3600 but that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work - man times you can just use a lj4 script or something and they'll work fine.

Also, where are you seeing this message? You say "on the printer" - do you literally mean on the printer's display?

HP does provide most of their printers drivers with HP-UX. But not all.

I'd check the support site for the printer and see what it says.

I've been shocked by how many LJ printers from HP work with HP-UX.

I went through this battle several month ago. The 3600 does not have host print capability. One of our departments purchased one before checking our HP/UX printing.

We have been a little more diligent about reminding them to check with me prior to sending the check off.

The 3800 works, Not the 3600.
