Does newer VxVM have "vgchgid" like LVM for multiple Clones?

In the "old days" to mount multiple BCVs (Clones) on the same host with VxVM you used to have to use "puboffset=" (discussed elsewhere). Does modern VxVM have an LVM-like "vgchgid" command so that you can mount multiple Clones on same host at the same time (concurrently)?

Try if this helps:

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-5512/5991-5512.pdf

...
vxdg -n newdg -o useclonedev=on -o updateid import mydg ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Does newer VxVM have "vgchgid" like LVM for multiple Clones?

Hi Stuart,

Lets rephrase. ;)

"Old vxvm" ;) , i.e. pre vxvm 5.0, did have a "vgchgid" like LVM, it was called forcing "vxdg import" on hardware clones, however it wasnt exactly a supported procedure, unlike vgchgid LVM procedure which is a supported procedure.

The problem was that "old vxvm" like "LVM", didnt "recognize" hardware cloning as such.

Now "new VxVM", i.e. from vxvm 5.0 onwards, "recognizes" hardware cloning as such, unlike still LVM. ;)

Greetz,
Chris
