Does vgchange, lvmerge and lvextend commands has -s option?

I forgot when read that vgchange, lvmerge and  lvextend commands with -s option can disable the VG or LV sync.

I want to know which patch contain this enhancement.

Thanks!

Hi Jack:

man vgchange

man lvmerge

man lvextend

look for "-s" option.

It would help to know which version of HP-UX you are using.  My 11.11 systems show a -s option for each of those commands.

Hi Pete,

My system is 11.23.

could you please show me the description of -s option of lvextend command?

OK.  When you can,  just post the output of

uname -a

that would help.

Disregard - no need.  I posted this before I saw your 11.23 version.

Re: Does vgchange, lvmerge and lvextend commands has -s option?

I don't seem to be able to get to HP's online man pages for 11iV2 so all I can give you is the 11.11 description:

-s

Do not synchronize the new mirror copies.  This may affect data high availability and you should use lvsync or vgsync to synchronize the mirrors.

The -m option must be specified along with this option.

Why wait (assuming you or anybody can find the online documetation that you want?).

That said:

...and then:

...to find all the flavors of the 11i manpages :-)

Hey, Pete!

Always happy to help!  Finding documentation after the documentation mutation event is a Hanzel-and-Gretel affair with very few pebbles  ;-)

[ And no, I dislike having to bookmark what at that moment might be the most recent manual, but in a day or so, might not ]

Regards!

Dear buddies,

Appreciate for your help!

I will go back and check the lvextend command as soon as possible.

JRF:

I just found the 11i v3 latest manpage "HP-UX Reference - Clickable Manpage Index for HP-UX 11i v3 (September 2011 Update)".

Is there the latest 11i v1 and v2 manpage?

Do you know the offline latest manpage of 11i v1, v2, and v3"

Thanks agani!

No, these are no longer being sold so not updated.  Nor in the clickable PDF.

You have the latest for 11.31.  Otherwise they should be listed here:

Re: Does vgchange, lvmerge and lvextend commands has -s option?

On your system, have the man pages been removed? The online man pages will always be the latest, whereas on your system, the man pages should match your installed software and patches. Patches that add or change behavior almost always update the man pages. So the -s option should be shown in your local man pages.
