DSF

Hello,
How to make persistent DFS bindings to new created partition ?

disk 1 0/4/1/0.0.0.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP DG146BB976
/dev/dsk/c0t2d0 /dev/dsk/c0t2d0s2 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s2
/dev/dsk/c0t2d0s1 /dev/dsk/c0t2d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s3

Persistent DSF Legacy DSF(s)
========================================
/dev/rdisk/disk4 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
/dev/rdisk/disk5 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0
/dev/rdisk/disk6 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0
/dev/rdisk/disk6_p1 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s1
/dev/rdisk/disk6_p2 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s2
/dev/rdisk/disk6_p3 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s3
/dev/rdisk/disk7 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0

Thanks

Re: DSF

Hi,

I don't think you need to do something special. please post

ioscan -m lun
strings /etc/lvmtab

Re: DSF

OK, I will explain
I have one vg group

--- Physical volumes ---
PV Name /dev/disk/disk6_p2
PV Status available
Total PE 4347
Free PE 2648
Autoswitch On
Proactive Polling On

and I want make software mirror, so I should add another disk do vg group - /dev/disk/disk7_p2, but I have only this in my system:
Persistent DSF Legacy DSF(s)
========================================
/dev/rdisk/disk4 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
/dev/rdisk/disk5 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0
/dev/rdisk/disk6 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0
/dev/rdisk/disk6_p1 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s1
/dev/rdisk/disk6_p2 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s2
/dev/rdisk/disk6_p3 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s3
/dev/rdisk/disk7 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0

How to create /dev/rdisk/disk7_p1, ... etc
ioscan it's not enough

Re: DSF

so what you ACTUALLY want to do is mirror your boot disk, correct?
If so you need to first partition the disk, setting up the EFI/OS/HPSP partitions, which will create the disk7_p1/p2/p3 devices.
Follow the steps in pages 81-84 of
http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-4589/5992-4589.pdf

Re: DSF

You need to follow the directions in the HPU x11.31 admin guide on how to mirror root disks.

disk7 needs to be partitioned in order for the s2 device to exist.

Please read the manual.

Re: DSF

I have already read this documentation http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5992-4589/ch03s04.html#cbddaicd.
I did first step, but i can do it again:

bash-3.2# ioscan -m lun

And nothing, still I don't see partition in Persistent DSF, but there are three pratition on disk:

Re: DSF

If that's what you ran, then you ran "ioscan -e" when you should have run "insf -e"

Read the notes again carefully...

Re: DSF

Sorry, I did it too fast
bash-3.2# insf -e -H 0/4/1/0.0x5000c5000c983b39.0x0
bash-3.2# ioscan -m dsf

/dev/rdisk/disk6_p3 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s3
/dev/rdisk/disk7 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0

But still is the same

Re: DSF

Try just:

insf -e

with no other options...

What'd the output of:

idisk -p /dev/rdisk/disk7
