DST hpux patch, is it independent of Oracle patches

Hello;

I've attached an oracle document showing oracle patches needing to be installed. I am trying to find out if the HPUX DST patch (PHCO_34668 for 11iv1 and PHCO_34669 for 11iv2) has to be applied before having the oracle DBA's apply their DST patches.

Thought I would try here first before I tell the Oracle DBA's to contact oracle about this.

Regards;

Been doing the OS patches before the Oracle patches.

Shalom,

Oracle will need to get correct time form the system so it probably needs the DST patch installed. Anyway your system needs it.

Oracle does time its own way so if they have a patch it needs to be installed regardless of what is done to the system.

In my opinion, it is always a good idea to perform the OS patches before the application patches

The OS patch does NOT require a reboot. However, it is a good idea to restart all the apps after the patch is applied.

Re: DST hpux patch, is it independent of Oracle patches

The HP-UX patch should be irrelevant to the Oracle patch. The HP-UX patch only changes the /usr/lib/tztab file.

I'm not entirely sure what all the Oracle patch does, but I don't think it looks at the OS for anything.

You should be able to do them in any order you please, UNLESS the Oracle doc mentions any requirements that the OS be patched first.
