dtlogin missing from pre-install, therefore no XServer

Hello,

I have a problem with an Itanium machine with HP-UX 11i v3 (March 2008) pre-installed.

Basically, when the system boots it presents a console login and not CDE.

I have had a look via 'swlist -l product' and CDE is installed, yet I am missing the /etc/dt folder and also /sbin/init.d/dtlogin. It appears that the display manager that ships with CDE has not been installed! Why would this possible be the case, please?

This means I am stumped since in the forums it says to check these files and restart dtlogin, etc. in order to get the XServer running.

Please could someone point me in the right direction here. Many thanks.

I do not believe that the entire CDE product is not included by default with 11.31.

Insert your DVD, review the products with swlist and select the remainder of the CDE product. Not sure which ones though, sorry.

Tim is right, CDE is no included into 11.31 installation by default.
If you have not selected it when installed the machine, install it from an 11.31 installation media.

thats funny because when i do a 'swlist -l product' i get the following:

CDE B.11.31 HP-UX CDE User Interface

So it is installed but I am missing some components?

Is it possible to clarify exactly what I am missing? It seems odd for an OS to come pre-installed with partial xwindow support.

confused.
