Hi
We are using EMC's Powerpath to provide alternate links & load balancing to the EMC disks. I have noticed in the LVM setup that alternate links are not configured. I have been told that it is not necessary to configure alternate links when using Powerpath as it handles all the failover & load balancing without the alternate links being configured in LVM.
Can you any confirm that this is correct? Also is there any good not reason not to configure the alternate links in LVM?
Thaks for your help.
Cheers

yes, it is correct. I tested it few months back
without setting alternate links and powerpath did the
job of load balancing.

Nothing negative. It's
a protection against link failures. Nothing to lose
and everything to gain, though it is a pain at times
for setting up.

Re: EMC Powerpath & Alternate links
Hi,
I am using powerpath without configuring alternate link.It does the needfull.
Sometime it is time consuming to configure alternate link when dealing with huge number of disks.
