EMS config on 11.11
I am playing with 11i on B1000 workstations and on an A500 server. All of them are throwing EMS critical events related to the CD-ROM drive. How can I disable monitoring of the CD-ROM? These spurious messages are annoying.
Also, I notice on my D230, which has a Nike Model 10 disk array, that the FC 60 monitor is running, although I have no Fiber Channel equipment whatsoever. Is it safe to disable this monitor, or it is a dependency for the "High Availability" (Model 10) monitor as well?

Re: EMS config on 11.11
If I'm not mistaken latest version of STM/EMS ( I can't remember which version ) should have stop monitoring CD-ROMs. Previously the inclusion of cdroms in the "disk_em" monitoring event has given a lot of "bogus" EMS messages. I'm surprised you're still getting it (since you're on 11i already). Thus I would suggest not disabling it but rather find out from HP why are you still getting EMS events related to CDROM. The chances are there may be a patch fix (depending on your CDROm model) or binary upgrade of certain STM monitoring tools (eg: disk_em in /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor). For my case it's the patch PHSS_23485 (11i Mitsumi CDROM firware update patch) that fixes it.
For the other question, again I suggest leave that alone if it's not giving any misleading error message because disabling it does not mean EMS will stop polling the interface, unless you disable EMS totally. But the logical answer would be "yes", it's safe to disable it.
