Entria II on 11.11

Hi

We have an Entria II that we were using on 2 10.20 boxes. We just had 2 new 11.11 systems installed and would like to use the Entria II on these. From what I've read, Enware 2 is not supported on 11.11. If that is the case, then what do we use to configure and run the Entria II?

Thanks

Hi Grahame,

Sorry to disappoint you,

There is no Enware software available for 11.11. The last released versions of
Enware 7.X and Netstation 9.X software are supplied on 11.0 hp-ux.

Re: Entria II on 11.11

There are two methods, both of which work. Remember, none of this code is running on your 11.11 box. You are just providing bootp code to bootstrap the X-Terminals and an NFS mount for them to use. The good news is that I am using an Entria II on an 11.11 box as I type this. I actually like the little guys because when combined with an LCD monitor they leave a tiny footprint.

You can actually install the Entria/Netstation software on the 11.11 box but you will have to enable "Allow installation of incompatible software" under the swinstall options. You should also install the last cumulative patch, PHSS_23021. This method will leave you with an up to date software database (i.e. swlist will know you have installed the stuff.).

The 2nd and easier method is to tar/cpio /opt/hpxt from your 10.20 box to your 11.11 box. Make sure that you NFS export /opt/hpxt and set up bootptab entries, make sure that bootpd (or dhcpd, if you prefer) is configured and you should be "good to go".

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
