Error in tar xvf
I want to tar xvf the quality-pack for
HPUX 11.00.
And I get this error message:
x patch_manifest, 409 bytes, 1 tape blocks
x README_hp-ux, 1780 bytes, 4 tape blocks
x create_depot_hp-ux_11, 5608 bytes, 11 tape blocks
x QPK1100_B.11.00.64.4.depot, 352573440 bytes, 688620 tape blocks
Tar: error! blocksize changed
What can I do ?

Check the size of the patch...
@ the source and at the destination where you have copied.
HOw have you uploaded/downloaded to the HP box?
FTP? have you transferred it in binary format??

the file size is the same.
Copied by ftp (binary)
Some files (patch_manifest, README..., create...) are correct

check the depot is not corrupted from the download use swinstall to do an analysis or simply download the depot again and try doing the tar again.

Please make sure if you have the followings:
1. Copying (ftp) the binary in binary mode.
2. Setting the right premissions for the files and directories.
3. ckeck the cksum of the quality pack.
I faced such problem when the connection was lost half way thru'.
