Error while taking ignite backup

Hi Gurus,

Iam getting an error while taking ignite backup.

ERROR: Not enough space for archive.
/var/opt/ignite/recovery/arch_mnt on local needs 11250355 kbytes free.
There are 10069096 kbytes free.

ERROR: The make_sys_image command failed. The system recovery archive will
not be created.

Is the spcae is pointing to local servers space[ whos backup that iam trying to take?]

or this space is in ignite server?

Any how its telling 11GB free space needed! but my /var is having only 4 GB. its bit confusimg me!!!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Error while taking ignite backup

Usually, best practice, is to nfs export a file system from the ignite server to every client.

showmount -e / -d

From the ignite server see what's nfs exported in /etc/exports.

From the client see what's nfs imported in /etc/fstab.

Then check the size of the filesystem with bdf.

Re: Error while taking ignite backup

probably you have a cluster like servers in your network, and need space on ignite server OR you have wrong media (smaller size than you need) if you use a tape for backup ..

Check "bdf /var/opt/ignite/recovery/arch_mnt".

The "arch_mnt" probably indicates an NFS FS is mounted there.

Re: Error while taking ignite backup

There is a space constraint on /var in your ignite server.
You can even create a separate lv of bigger size & mount it on archives folder.

Or, you can mount a separate lv on separate mount point on ignite server & make it nfs export for clients.
While taking ignite backup of client or firing command from clients, there is an option to define the folder in ignite, where to take it.

Thanks,
