Errors on DNS server console

Hello experts,

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem since weeks. I still don't find the cause. Please help!

I am running BIND 9.2.0 (BIND-20 B.11.11.01.002) on HP-UX 11.11. The following messages keep on poping on my server console from time to time.

Re: Errors on DNS server console

Hi,

This error because of windows 2000 clients trying dynamic DNS updation to your DNS server.

TO Disable dynamic DNS update in the windows 2000 machines ( machines can be identified by ip addresses in the error message )

open the Network control panel, bring up the Properties box for the Local Area Connection, open the Properties for TCP/IP then go to Advanced/DNS and turn off the option "Register this connection's addresses in DNS".

regards,
U.SivaKumar

Re: Errors on DNS server console

hi U.SivaKumar,

Thank you for the reply!

You are right! It must be my W2K stations that are causing this "inconvenience"! I just verified the IP addresses displayed on the console. They are all W2K!

Cheers
and Happy end of year Festivities.
