/etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
Hi,
I am trying to start two programs on startup, and was advised by HP staff to use netdaemons file to do it.
One program is called NDM, and is used to communicate between HPUX and Mainframe systems.
The other program is called LSF, and is used to schedule SAS jobs to run in sequence based on the presence of various in-files. It's not a network daemons per se, thein lies my question.
Is there another file or set of files that can be used to store the start commands for these two programs?
In the /netdaemons file, I have:
How do I complete it given my current setup of?:
/usr/share/lsf6/6.1/hppa11-64/etc/lsf_daemons {start|stop}
-------------snip---------
----is this even remotely correct?-------
export LSF=(path to program?)
export LSF=1
export LSF_ARGS="lsf_daemons start"
-karlski

Re: /etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
Hi karlski,
Yes I'd set up files for both of these in /sbin/init.d & then link from the /sbin/rcX.d directories. Choose the appropriate run level to start AND stop these. Remember to stop them at one level lower than started.
See /sbin/init.d/template for how these scripts should be written
Also you should setup files in /etc/rc.config.d to easily toggle startup on/off.
Rule of thumb is that the Sxxx (start script) & Kxxx (stop script) should equal 1000. So if you start at S900name - you should stop at K100name.
HTH,
Jeff

Re: /etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
I would set up a script in the /sbin/init.d directory and have a link to /sbin/rc?.d where ? represents which run level you want this process to start, the same for stopping the process as well.
/etc/rc.config.d directory is used for setting the appropriate variables and options for the scripts in /sbin/init.d

Re: /etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
Take /sbin/init.d/template as example and built your script. Put the kill and start scripts accordingly. also as mentioned eariler, the the kill and start scripts should add to 1000
