EVA5000 best practices

Hi Guys,

We had just purchase 7 Tb EVA5000. We plan to use this for storage consolidation to be used by 6 rp servers.

Can anyone tell me some best practices for this kind of implementation? What possible problems will I going to encounter? Solutions?

Hi Paul,

First of all i really can say it is best
choice.i also have been located EVA5000
with 6 Disk enclosure fully 84 disks and
since 2003.i have a SD16000,rp-5430,N-Class
and AIX PowerPC 4.3.3 which are connected
EVA and they are really working very high
performance.On the other hand,i can advise
you to take care when you want to connect
none HP box like my AIX sometimes you may
face problems especially after firmaware updates on SAN swicthes because Secure path
updates are really important.Also choosing
HBA is very important.
i think setting SAN concept is a little bit
complex and needs really attention but
when you done or everything is OK then
it is very easy to manage but Do not forget
Murphy :-)) all the time.if you want more

Hi Paul,

There is no known problems for EVA as per HP. But Few places I have seen that the disks are failing.

At my place it is being used for the last one year ..there were no problem till today.

during the installation you may face problem to install secure path.

The procedure is as follows.

Paul,

i am sure you will need such a kind of doc,too.
By sssu tool now i am creating snap or snap clone of my critical hosts's disk and present
them to another hosts(especially appl&oracle DB)
