Event Monitor not reporting

I have a question, about EMS. When I first installed EMS and the system rebooted I recieved the emails that said that the EMS had been restarted. Since that time I don't recieve any messages on a reboot. What do I have setup wrong. I would like to recieve all EMS messages .

System - rp3440
OS - HP-UX 11.11 Version 1

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tim:

Are you able to email to yourself from the server at all?

Re: Event Monitor not reporting

EMS sends notifications to root under /var/mail/root. Check to see if EMS is reporting to /var/mail/root.

If it is then add an alias in /etc/mail/alais

root: your@domain.com
newaliases (* rebuilds alias db *)

Re: Event Monitor not reporting

Hi Michael,

Yes, I have my aliases setup and they are working. What has me confused is that I recieved the messages the first time around and then they never showed up for any reboots after that.

Re: Event Monitor not reporting

What is being recorded in the mail.log? /var/adm/syslog/mail.log?

To stop / start sendmail

/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop/start

Re: Event Monitor not reporting

Do you have SFM installed?

Changes to Monitoring

Starting with the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2008 release, SFM is the default monitoring mode. However, it is possible to switch to the OnlineDiag monitoring mode. For information on how to switch to the OnlineDiag mode, see the SFM Administrator's Guide at:
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/diag/ems/emr_0803_1123.htm

Not sure about 11.11, because the document is "missing or moved".

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
