Exec failed when cloning

Guys

Made an ignite recovery tape via make_tape_recovery -a /dev/rmt/1mn -I on an A400-6x using a DDS3 tape drive, I tested the tape by booting the system from the tape and it brought up the Interactive Menu to run recovery etc.

I then tried to boot an rp3440 using a dds 4 tape drive and it starts to boot from the tape:/xxx/xxxx/WINSTALL and then falls over with Exec failed.

I then created another tape on another A400-6x system and tried it on another rp3440 and had the same problem. Using C.6.0.109 of Ignite.

Any ideas would be gratefully received

They aren't the same class of machines. You need to build an rp3440 from scratch then build a make_recovery from that.

The hardware may be too different for this Ignite methodology to work. You may find creating a Golden Image less hardware dependent.

I am now trying an ignite across 2 same platforms.

I am bit surprised/disappointed if the reason it fails is due to the differences between the hardare platforms.

In the past I have cloned across D/E/L/A and rp classes.

Will update this thread once I have tested the ignite tape

I am convinced it should work and since you have done quite some cloning I would assume that besides using the latest Ignite-UX you did consider the following aspects?

- the A400 needs to be on 11.11 or 11.23
- the A400 should have latest HWE patches installed
- you need to set "cloning to diff HW" to true
