extending beyond MaxPE per PV

How do I allow an 18 GB disk's capacity to be utilized when i extend my VG. as per vgdisplay i can only allocate a max of 4GB of disk space....

Hi,
You can't do that , the value max PE per PV is set while you create the vg, so once you have created it you can't alter it without creating a new one ..

vgcreate -e "PESIZE" is the options for specifying the PE size while creation of vg.

Its not possible...
the value max Physical Extent per Physical Volume is set while you create the volume group, so once you have created it you can't modify it.

vgcreate -e "PESIZE" is the options for specifying the PE size during creation of vg.

try man vgcreate for more options...
basically.... i just second the motion... ;-)

I am not pretty sure. but there is a way to increase and reduce file systems with the use of Online JFS product.
