Hi all,
i would like to know if there is a way to extract a specifica file from a make_recovery cassette.
The firts attempt with a tar tv gives a checsum error.

To extract files from a make_recovery or make_tape_recovery tape, do this:
# mt -t /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1
# tar -xvf /dev/rmt/0m filename
Note the norewind option in the 'mt' command! This example assumes tape device 0m, change it according to your taste.
The extract process is not fast, so be patient.

Solution
The problem you encountered is the following. The first file on a ignite tape contains the necessary ignite stuff (bootstrap, recovery information ...).
This is no tar file with your data. So you have to skip the first file on the tape and position the tape on the beginning of the second file. (Done by mt -t /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1).
The second file on the tape is the tar file with your backed up data. From here you can extract your data with a normal tar command.
