Fath Failover on a SAN

Hi Gurus,

We have had an HPUX 11.0 system for sometime now, and last weekend, we suffered a catastrophic switch failure (Brocade 3800). All systems failed over automatically (phew!) but now the switch has been replaced, I can't seem to get the OS to fail all the LUNS back to their prefered path. I've investigated pvchange, but for the life of me, I can't work out how to do this without bringing the system down after making the changes.
Does anyone know how to force LUNS back onto their prefered paths??

Thanks, Jon.

Re: Fath Failover on a SAN

Hi,
You can do this without shutdown by pvchange -s command
(Please see man pvchange for details).

I have successfully done this earlier for EMC LUNs.

Also with -S it can be confured automatically.

Hi Shaikh Imran,

Thanks very much for your information, I shall investigate on Monday. Whilst you're there (!), you mentioned EMC: do you use PowerPath or simply stick to the default HPUX LVM?? We just use LVM, but I was thinking that using a third party failover/load balancing driver might be advisable, even Veritas VM (even though I understand that LVM is a cut down version of this)... what do you think?

Thanks very much,

Jon.
