Re: fbackup problem.
I've encountered both of the following just in the past 3 weeks.
fbackup(3013): WRITE ERROR while writing data record, at media record 1881717
fbackup(3102): attempting to make this volume salvagable
fbackup(3103): rewrite this volume from the beginning?
fbackup(3004): writer aborting
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit
fbackup(3040): output file /dev/rmt/2m encountered an I/O error
fbackup(3019): would you like to enter a new output file?
fbackup(3004): writer aborting
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit
Looking for comment.

Re: fbackup problem.
To J Calvin Long:
You really should open your own thread, especially since this one never had any responses.
This sounds like it could be:
Bad tape -- Try a new tape
Dirty tape drive -- Clean the drive
Bad cables or bad cable connection -- check your cables and make sure they are all seated. Replace cables if they are suspect
Bad terminator -- Replace it
Bad tape drive -- Replace it

Re: fbackup problem.
Hi Jawee,
fbackup(3040): output file /dev/rmt/0m encountered an I/O error
>> tape-drive needs cleaning<<<
>>you also need to check "tape driver" status Good or bad <<
intermediate problem could be tape-drive issue
please check the tape-driver condition using # cstm
cstm>map
cstm>sel dev 6
cstm>info
(Good / Bad)
Thanks,
Johnson
