fbackup supports Ultrium 960 ???

Anybody has any idea whether 'fbackup' is supported on Ultrium 960 ? I am getting the error "output file /dev/rmt/2m is not a valid device file for backup" . I am able to take backup on the same drive using tar and other tape backup tools.

Re: fbackup supports Ultrium 960 ???

Hi Bejoy,

fbackup support for Ultrium drives was added in patch PHCO_23914 in HP-UX 11.11
The latest patch is PHCO_28998 for HP-UX 11.11

If you are using 11.00 , then you would need equivalent patch. Look for the patch in patch database at ITRC for HPUX.

Re: fbackup supports Ultrium 960 ???

Hi Bejoy,

if you are sure that the device file is the correct device file for that Ultrium device then try to install latest fbackup patch (which surely supports Ultrium drives): for HP-UX 11.11 already posted....for HP-UX 11.00 is

PHCO_23854:
Enhancement request for Ultrium tape drive support.

superseded by PHCO_33201.

HTH.

Best regards,
Fabio
