fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

Hi all:

L3000-6x runninf HPUX 11.11

I have lost all connections to my SAN. All other systems are OK. Doing the fcmsutil shows thousands (and growing) interrupts with still no connections.

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

did you reset the FCadapter?
# fsmsutil /dev/td reset

regards.

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

Yes, The latest Mass Storage patches were installed, the reset was issued. Still seeing the interrupts build up at a fast pace.

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

nothing strange there...
assuming an ioscan shows claimed, can the SAN guys check the WWPN on their side?
otherwise no ideas left..
do you have an support contract for this machine...i suggest you use it...

good luck.

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

This is the problem - the devices were there yesterday as CLAIMED. Then they went NO_HW. On reboot/resert/patch install/etc. the ioscan does not show the devices at all anymore.

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

Checking the WWPN on the SAN shows all OK. The switches show logged in, there is activity, no errors, etc. These are McData DS24 port switches. The disk devices are from a SYMM 8830.

Have placed a call to HP and EMC but HP and EMC seem to have the habit of blaming each other.
I admit all looks OK but something is not.

So original question - what would cause the numerous interrupts on the FC cards?

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

BTW, the FC cards are A6826A cards.

Any solution, we too have the same issue.

Re: fcd cards getting lots of interrupts

YES, thanks for bringing this up so I can update.

A new zone was created that was 'stepping on' a previously configured zone. This caused much traffic and interfered with the normal operations of the zone that was 'stepped on'.

Since the zone we 'stepped on' was for the tape backup library, this did not turn out to be a critical issue. We did backups manually for 1 night but the next day it was discovered and fixed.
