FDDI/ 11.11

I am running 11.11 on a K360. I am getting ready to install a FDDI card so I can connect it to our FDDI backup network. The card I want to install has a number on it as "28670-60101".
I guess this is an HSC card, but I am not sure what driver to use. Can I use this card running 11.i?

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

The drive is fcT1

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

I am confused. I thought fcT1 was a Fibre channel mass storage adapter for disks. I am talking about FDDI fibre network card.

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

If I'm not mistaken it's fddi4. Refer to
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J3703-90004/J3703-90004.html
for detail installation procedure.

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

Looks Like fddi4 is a PCI driver.

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

Sorry Robert, I was looking at the wrong "ioscan" output.
HSC=fddi3
EISA=fddi0
PCI=fddi4
That much I know.

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

Thats what I came up with. But I can't find the fddi3 driver on the 11.i application CD's.
Is it OK to use the 11.0 driver? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

The software for the driver appears differently on 11.0 vs 11i application CDs.
On 11.0
J3701BA HSC FDDI/9000 Driver for K,T Class
On 11i
FDDI-01 HSC FDDI (Supp HW=A3723A/A3722A; Supp SW=J3629BA/J3701BA)
Try searching through your 11i application CDs for "FDDI-01".

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

Ok Thanks for all your help on this.
I installed the FDDI-01 driver from the 11i app cd. It is installed and 'in' the kernel.It shows up as fddi3 as the driver name. However, I ran 'ioscan -fnC lan' and see no FDDI card. I also ran 'lanscan' and all I see is ETHER, no FDDI. So. You see, here is how I started. I removed the cover plate from the rear, next to the core i/o board, and installed this FDDI card. Is it possible that the k360 does not have that slot activated? I do see a self test light on the card, blinking yellow. Is there something else I can try?

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

Also, I ran 'ioscan -fn'. Here is what I see.

unknown -1 10/4/12 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP J2157A - FDDI Interface

Any ideas?

I did run 'insf -e'

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

The card you got is not HSC, it's HP-PB. If I'm not mistaken, there should be some standard HP-PB slot next to the core IO card (on the left side of the core IO). Plus you got to install this instead :-
FDDI-02 HPPB FDDI (SupHW=J2157B SW=J2658BA)
Hope this will do it for you.

Re: FDDI/ 11.11

Beautiful S.K. CHAN. HP-BP was correct. I thought it was an HSC card. I followed your instructions for the correct HP-BP 11i drives and I can now see my device. All I need to do is configure it. I really want to thank you for all your help on this issue. You have been a great help.
