Fiber Channel

Dear all:

Actually, we have two servers (HP 9000 Serie K and HP class L)
The Server K has two Fiber channel controllers the first one controls 5 hard disks, the other one control 5 hard disks. The reason is because the 5 hard disks are in mirror.

The Server L has 2 hard disks, recently we buy an additional Fiber Channel Controller.

The Objetive is:

The K server is in Production environment and we would like connect the K and L Servers using the fiber channel and keep the L server as backup server on line..

Please let me know if it is possible or not.
If is possible do you have some documentation or tips to complete with this project.

Thanks a lot for your help

Abraham

Re: Fiber Channel

Its certainly possible.

You can use the fiber cards to attach to a SAN(Storage Area Network) or to actually network between the boxes using fiber.

Each Fiber card has a unique address known as a World Wide Name, which is simlar to a MAC address on a Lan card.

Disks are generally assigned to a card using this World Wide Name.

I'm not totally clear on what you are trying to achieve but am including a few documents that may guide you to a good configuration.
