File System Mounts

Does anyone have access to documentation on HP recommended file system sizes and mounts?

Re: File System Mounts

I'm looking for something more along the lines of,

Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/vg00/lvol3 4096000 224544 3841232 6% /
/dev/vg00/lvol1 524288 138984 382336 27% /stand
/dev/vg00/lvol8 10240000 6463648 3747672 63% /var
/dev/vg00/lvol7 6144000 2553504 3562480 42% /usr
/dev/vg00/lvol6 4096000 19320 4045920 0% /tmp
/dev/vg00/lvol5 6144000 2132104 3981000 35% /opt

Re: File System Mounts

It depends on the size of the system, which apps are running, how many users, and the size of the vg00 disks.

Historically, for me at least, the following mount points are always way to small: /, /var, /opt and sometime /home.

/ is a critcal one in that it difficult to make larger after the fact, and user will "inadvertently" store files in it. 300 MB is a good size, in my opinion.

/var filling up is one of the common causes of system problems - if you got the space - 1GB

/opt should be 500 MB or greater.

/home depends on the number of users, and how much they store on the server....

Re: File System Mounts

Depends on the OS version and type (MCOE/TCOE etc.) you are using.

Re: File System Mounts

In the "read before installing" it has the "defaults".

Re: File System Mounts

Sorry -not the "read before" but the "installing and updating"

Example, page 29 of this for 11.31:
