Find Character Sets

Hello,

How do I find out which are all the character sets and language support installed on HP-UX and Solaris systems?

Thanks,
KarthiK S S

Re: Find Character Sets

Hi,

locale is the command to find that.

"locale" will tell you what character set you are currently using. "locale -a" will tell you all the character sets installed on the system.

Hope this helps.

Re: Find Character Sets

The languege is coded in the letters

En_US U.S. English
nl_NL.utf8 Dutch UTF-8

And swiss with the local languages: german, french and italian

de_CH
de_CH.utf8
fr_CH
fr_CH.utf8
it_CH
it_CH.utf8

For more generic info:

a5:/u/usr/merijn 103 > swlist -l subproduct -l product -l fileset | grep -i -e dutch -e _nl -e nl_
# International.Dutch Dutch
International.Dutch.DUTCH B.11.00 DUTCH
PHCO_17316.DUTCH 1.0 International.DUTCH
a5:/u/usr/merijn 104 > swlist International
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "a5"...
#
# Target: a5:/
#

# International B.11.00 International
International.DUTCH B.11.00 DUTCH
International.ENGLISH B.11.00 ENGLISH
a5:/u/usr/merijn 105 >

BTW Sanjay, what does your answer *add* to what was already answered? This looks like point hunting. Something /you/ don't need.

Re: Find Character Sets

Thank you Merjin! It helped.

I will be happy if someone can tell me how do I find that out in Solaris though it is not fair on my part to ask this here.

Thanks,

system SUNWfrrsc French Remote System Control
system SUNWfrscd French Remote System Control User Guide
system SUNWfrscj French Remote System Control GUI
