For one of our dba filesystem has been occupied to 100% and they have asked me to extend this filesystem. I have checked that there is no free space available in the volume group to extend. We have SAN EVA8000 and may i know how can i find a free disk available at EVA to add that to the existing volume group?

SolutionDepending on your OS version you may consider to extend the existing vdisk or create a new vdisk in order to extend the VG on the server.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: finding free disk at EVA
Once you find the free disk, you need to create (vdisk) and present the (vdisk) LUNS to Server
than Once LUNS has been presented, you can extend the (volume group) and than increase the file system space.

Re: finding free disk at EVA
Once i know the procedure how to present the LUNS to server then i will create a vdisk.
In command view EVA->click virtual disk->create vdisk->during vdisk creation, there is a option called "Present to host" dropdown list. In dropdown list to my server(test)i have test-fcd0 & test-fcd1.

Re: finding free disk at EVA
if you have doubt you just check how the other "VDISK GROUP" are presented .
selecting both fcd0 & fcd1 if you select both it would have pri -path and alternative path for disks
