I have been asked to investigate the possibility of replacing our old CRT monitors with Flat-screen monitors.
The monitors will be used on C3x00 HP-UX workstations running CAD applications. I seem to remember hearing that flat-screen monitors aren't good enough for CAD work, but a review I've been reading of the HP L1955 suggests it is.
1. Is that monitor compatible with the workstations I have described?
2. Has anyone any experience of using it for CAD on HP-UX and how does it compare with a CRT monitor?

SolutionI'm currently running a L1925 on a C3000 and it works fine. It's a little slow so graphical stuff can "stutter" a bit - it's a little bit jerky trying to watch a movie clip, for example. My guess is that the L1955 would be just fine.

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
-1- yes, at least for the C3700 and the C3750.

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
I'll recommend we buy one to see how it is, then if the user's happy we'll buy more.

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
I think I've got all the information I need now, unless someone has used it specifically for CAD work.

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
We are using HP Flat panel monitor L1755 with HP-UX workstations. Everything is fine till now. But, we are not running any CAD application.

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
we use many different TFT's from HP for CAD with C3x00.
L1810, L1820, L1955, L2025, L2035 - without problems - only with C8000 and the new fire-gl there are brightness problems.

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
Now we've ascertained that monitor will work with a C3x00 I've been asked to investigate larger ones.
The LP2065 looks like a safe bet but is only one inch larger. Next comes the L2335. Every review I've read says PC compatibility, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work with HP-UX. Before I recommend spending a lot of money on several of these, can anyone confirm one way or the other whether or not this will do what I want?

Re: Flat-screen monitors for CAD work
you just have to check if your graphics cards have the right mode available.
For the 20" I use 1600x1200, it's better than 1200x1024.
For 23" - 1920x1200 ?
My fx10 offers this mode, check your cards ...
