Re: Forgotten SuperUser Passwd

Hello,

The best way is always to create a user account with 0 UID which you can use to change the root passwd by su to it.
Another way is to ftp the /etc/passwd to another machine and then use the Crack utility which is availble at www.software.hp.com
Also, you have to install gcc. Download it from the same site. Other than that you'll have to reboot your system in a single user mode.

Hope this help.

Re: Forgotten SuperUser Passwd

The best way to get around having alternative methods for access to 'root' is to use 'sudo'
Having a second or subsequent account(s) with uid of '0' is seriously a bad idea.

You can get 'sudo' from here.
