Re: Format package
For formatting a disk, we use pvcreate command in HP-UX.
And we have create logical volumes which can be formatted using command called newfs and makefs.
Read the man pages and please be careful while using this commands as they are destructive.

Re: Format package
I want to fix the damage partition using format command, the fsck cant fix the said error.
The error said File System not properly shutdown beginning filesystem repair /dev/vg00/rvol1: 18 files, 0 icont, 1605 used, 220712 free (8 frags, 27588 blocks) cannot read 56872 unexpected inconsistency run fsck manual
When I run fsck manually still I get error in /dev/vg00/rvol1 cannot read 56872, I think only format can repair this error but sadly the my HP box dont have a format command, unless you guys have a good suggestion on how to repair the said error.
Thank you once again and More power
Respectfully
Allan

SolutionWell, to fix a corrupt file system you would run newfs to recreate it, and recover from backups. In this instance, the file system is /stand, and you may have to bite the bullet and re-install, or even have the root disk replaced if after testsing it shows hard errors.
