frecover commands

hey there,
i used fbackup with a DLT 8000 tape drive for my backup (# /usr/sbin/fbackup -0uvc config -g graph -I index -f/dev/rmt/1m), now i want to delete and restore/recover, i want to use frecover to recover, what command can i use?..any ideas?...

I usually use -v -x -i to recover just a file or directory:

frecover -v -x -i /dir/file_you_want

or

frecover -v -x -i /dir_you_want

The -v is verbose
The -x is extract
and the -i is Include

List the tape
frecover -x -f /dev/rmt/1m -N -v
.
./a
./b


Recovery the whole tape
frecover -x -f /dev/rmt/1m -i ./

Recovery the file named b
frecover -x -f /dev/rmt/1m -i /.b -v

One of following will help you.


Ensure that the tape used for data recovery is the correct one by checking the tape label date. NB: In the examples below the -f /dev/rmt/0m tape device is used as an example - if the default device (ususally /dev/rmt/0m) is used the -f option can be omitted.
# frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -V -

It is possible to recover the tape index from the file for a quick check of the contents of the tape - however this method does not guarantee that displayed files will be present on the tape (the index is a list of files expected to be backed up on the tape - files moved or deleted during the backup process may not backed up to tape).
# frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -I index

where: index is the name of the file to contain the indexed file listing.
To recover files to original location:
# frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -xov -i /source_directory

To recover files relative to the current working directory:
# cd /destination_directory
# frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -xXov -i /source_directory

To recover all files under source directory to the present directory (all paths on tape will be ignored - leaving a flat directory structure):
# cd /destination_directory
# frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -xFov -i /source_directory

To recover data from a remote tape drive use (the -f option must be used in this case):
# frecover -f sys1:/dev/rmt/0m -xov -i /source_directory
