frecover resynchronize

I am using frecover from sam. I choose a recovery scope and a destination. I recieved the following;

Starting file recovery...
frecover(5423): incorrect volume mounted;
frecover(5424): expected volume 1, and got 2
frecover(5433): Do you wish to continue using this volume? (^[yY]/^[nN]) y
frecover(5434): attempting to resynchronize after volume

It has been sitting at this for about an hour, no new files and very, very little cpu usage. Is there something I can check to see if it is still running? Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Re: frecover resynchronize

Hi
This backup appears to span two tapes and you have tape two in the drive.
CTRC +C to exit and put tape one in first.

Re: frecover resynchronize

It does, but the files I am requesting do not start until the second (maybe the third) tape. My understanding is that I should be able to do it this way. Shouldn't frecover resync itself and allow me to start the recovery from the second tape?

This is because I have about 6 recovers to do and the tape drive is physically a half hour a way from where I am, and to drive back and forth is really time consuming to be able to switch tapes only so it can bypass the first tape anyway.

Re: frecover resynchronize

Hi
To recover the files on the 2nd/3rd tapes the backup needs to have tape one first.

Re: frecover resynchronize

Then why does it ask me if I want to continue, it should tell me that it is not possible.

file recovery...
frecover(5423): incorrect volume mounted;
frecover(5424): expected volume 1, and got 2
frecover(5433): Do you wish to continue using this volume? (^[yY]/^[nN]) y
frecover(5434): attempting to resynchronize after volume header

And why does it try to resync if it does not allow this?

Re: frecover resynchronize

Hi
See man frecover

It will explain the way it works.
