FTP problem from windowsNT to Unix box

FTP problem from windowsNT to Unix box

i have the program which download the files
trough FTP from an windows server ( NT 4.0 SVCpack - 6A, IIS 4.0)
to the unix box (HP-UX 11.0)
during the download , some times ( 1 out of 100)
my fTP is just hangs, when ever it try to ownload a file.
( in that case , i have to kill the job and remove that file
name from the download list, and start the job again . )

It is not doing all the times.

this is the program (FTP part ) , i am using on the UNIX side.

{
echo "open $SERVER
user $USER $PASS
$TMODE
cd XYZ
cd Output
case on
get $FILE.txt $FILE.txt
close"
} | ftp -i -n

1. is there any way , that i can get around this ?
2. can i buy pass the file , if it is taking more than 5 min ?

keeping you ahead of the learning curve

Re: FTP problem from windowsNT to Unix box

Hi:

You might try establishing a 'timeout data' value in the 'etc/ftpaccess' coinfiguration file. Have a look at the 'ftpaccess(4) man pages for more information.

Re: FTP problem from windowsNT to Unix box

Hi,

You could try adding the hash command in the ftp script think $TMODE is used for asci or binary it somtimes helps to bypass timeouts.

{
echo "open $SERVER
user $USER $PASS
$TMODE
hash
cd XYZ
cd Output
case on
get $FILE.txt $FILE.txt
close"
} | ftp -i -n

Hope it helps,
