Re: FTP - slow establishing connection

Hello,

1. May be a reverse DNS problem. Try connecting to the remote server with ip address rather than hostname.

2. Try restarting ftpd

3. check syslog messages for any clues

All the best.

Re: FTP - slow establishing connection

Hi,
you may also check the route via nslookup
and ping.

Re: FTP - slow establishing connection

Hi !

DNS, ping and telnet is ok. When ftp server is says connected but getting the prompt takes quite a while.

What is your DNS resolving order ? Is nslookup fast ? (in the two ways)

And what about transfert ? It may be you have high collisions on your network.

Re: FTP - slow establishing connection

Hi !
I've checked the interface on the switch and everything seems ok. Authentication may be the problem?

Have you checked the duplex of the systems?
