FTP transfer speed
Hi Gurus,
We have a STM link of 155Mbps. And the results of testing FTP with HPUX to HPUX differs a lot with Windows to same HPUX. The test results are as follows. HP-UX1 and Windows Desktop in same lan and HPUX2 on WAN link(STM). All Tests were done with common file over WAN/STM link.
1. HPux1 to HPux2 we get speed of 8 Mbps per session.
2. Windows Desktop to HPUX2 we get speed of 16 Mbps per session
3. Windows Desktop to HPUX2 using Flash Get FTP software we get a speed of 43 Mbps.
The both OS are Hp-ux11.11 with December 07'Gold Pack running on Super dome SX2000.
I was also wondering if any FTP boost up s/w like flashget/DAP comes for hp-ux as well.
Where to look for more. We have verified the switch/server port/duplex/crc Its just the throughput with HPUX1 to HPUX2
Thanks in advance.
Anshu

Re: FTP transfer speed
Hi Anshu,
First of all check the speed of your lan card.
#lanadmin -x.
http://docs.hp.com/en/J5683-90017/apds01.html
Check your LAN card is working on full duplex or auto negotiation . May be it is working on less speed. Change the speed setting from auto negotiation to 1000BaseT on both sides e.g. switch and server side.
Regards,
Asif Sharif

Hi,

perhaps by using split command you can write a script. you split the file into pieces and open a ftp transfer in the background.
Kenan.
