Gathering information from MeasureWare

I have been asked to locate historical data for a paticular logical volume group, /dev/vg05/rlvol5. I was wondering how this can be obtained using MeasureWare. Thanks, in advance, for any and all help!!! - Mark

Re: Gathering information from MeasureWare

What kind of historical data are you looking for? Do you mean LV size, usage, amount free? If any of those are the case then none of that is collected via measureware, or anywhere else, as far as I know.

Re: Gathering information from MeasureWare

Patrick,
Thanks for the reply. Actually I want to gather all the activity on that paticular logical volume group. I really only want the raw data. We have some file systems connected and it appears that I can only gather the activity on the file systems that are connected to /dev/vg05/rlvol5. Any suggestions? Thanks!!! - Mark

Re: Gathering information from MeasureWare

Are you familiar with the extract command? If so, modify teh template file /var/opt/perf/myrept by uncommenting {* is the comment character) the lines you want under the "DATA TYPE LVOLUME" section. Run the extract command, specifying your saved (renamed) template file, the dates for which you want to extract data, summary or detail data, etc.

If you are not familiar with extract, you can run the command in a guided (interactive) mode. Simply issue the command without flags and select "GUIDE" fromt he offered menu.
